Siemens Metal Enclosed Switchgear

CBM recently had a major customer in need of a quality manufacturer for Metal Enclosed Switchgear.  We recommended the Siemens line of switchgear to them for several reasons:

• The equipment meets or exceeds the latest standards of ANSI, IEEE and NEMA
• Up to 100 full-fault interruptions
• Interlocks permit insertion of higher rating vacuum circuit breaker into lower rated cell but not vice versa
• Visible secondary disconnect
• 11-gauge steel used for all enclosure components of the line up, not just between sections, the entire vertical structure is 11-gauge
• Middle section, or M section, allows for completely isolated LV section to allow safe access to control power disconnects, relay programming, or terminal block wiring changes
• Siemens integrated racking system can remotely rack breakers and auxiliaries (PTs, FuseTrays, Ground/Test devices) safely using remote pendant, HMI control, or via SCADA

Our customer also wanted to visit a utility currently using the switchgear and hear about their experiences.  To that end we took them to a utility in Nebraska who had installed multiple Siemens switch gears over the past several years.  That utility was impressed with the Siemens switchgear to the point where they have another lineup on order now.  Our customer was able to inspect the switchgear and asked numerous questions about it.  They walked away feeling that ordering their upcoming switchgear fromSiemens would be a good decision.
