Megger TRAX Multifunction Transformer & Substation Test System

Testing substation transformers is a difficult and dangerous task that technicians are required to perform on a regular basis.  In many cases the testing equipment itself adds to the risk because of its weight, size, and the multiple units usually required.

To reduce the inherent risk of this testing, Megger has created a single test set called TRAX that replaces multiple units and allows technicians to minimize their trips to the top of the transformer.  This one unit can perform tests such as:  power factor, winding resistance, turns ratio, impedance measurements, CT/VT testing, and circuit breaker analysis.  You can also use the manual option to completely control the unit for specialized testing. 

The unit, in combination with the 12kv power factor step up and the three-phase switch box, offers the ability to fully power factor test large power transformers and greatly reduce the number of trips to the top of the transformer to change leads.

One of the best features of the TRAX unit is the easy to use and understand software interface.  The system acts just like your smartphone in that you place the test application shortcuts you use most on the home screen and have ready access to the many other tests available on subsequent screens.  All the test results can be loaded into Megger’s PowerDB database and used in conjunction with other test results to provide a holistic view of the transformer’s health.
